  1. Carlie Abersold Kramer, MSH, RDN, LDN

This course very clearly stated how to diagnose and continue long-term monitoring to assist in managing the conditions associated with your thyroid. The material was presented clearly, logically, and in an organized manner so it could be easily followed. The course is excellent and gives a complete outline of all things to consider when working with anyone that has thyroid disease.

  2. Lindsay Ferrara, MS, RD, CDN, Owner of Pinnacle Nutrition, PLLC, Saratoga Springs, NY

This book is priceless. I will be using it as a reference in my private practice. Some things I learned and will now put into practice include requesting RT3 levels in clients I suspect have thyroid disease. I was also unaware that CoQ10 can help lower T3 levels and that too much prescription T4 can raise RT3. It was great to hear about the Author’s go-to pharmaceutical-grade brands (Douglas Labs and Pure Encapsulations). I will now be inquiring about fluoridated water because of its effect on the thyroid and possible risk for hypothyroidism. I knew about leaky gut but this book covered the physiology very well so I’ll be digging a bit deeper with my clients and their GI complaints. I will put more emphasis on stress reduction now that I know more about the relationship between cortisol and thyroid (I was unaware of how cortisol impacts histamine load). Finally, I will be looking for a client to have vitamin D levels between 50-70ng/dL. Such great information. Better than I expected!

  3. Kylie Lynch, MSF, RD, LD, Private Practice Dietitian, Birmingham, AL

This course was helpful! I would highly recommend it, as thyroid dysfunction is prevalent in our society. This course would be relevant for any RD. I have begun incorporating several of the recommendations into the treatment of my own autoimmune thyroiditis with noticeable success on lab results. Now that I see the benefits of the recommendations in my own life, I can begin making those same recommendations to patients with confidence. I will also order more robust lab work to better hone in on the true root cause of the patient’s thyroid dysfunction. I have learned a great deal about the etiology and types of thyroid conditions, various treatment recommendations and how to properly monitor a patient to prevent undue damage. Given the high rates of thyroid conditions, this knowledge will be valuable in providing the best patient care.

  4. Debbie Bochert, DTR, Aurora, CO

My daughter and several clients I work with have hypothyroidism and I found this book to be very valuable. The labs that should be requested are more than what is typical. Now I have the tools to let my daughter and clients know what to request. The symptoms involved were helpful as a lot of them overlap with other diagnoses. The diet and supplement suggestions were also helpful as this is also not typical when talking to providers.

  5. Kylie Lynch MS, RD, LD, Birmingham, AL

I have learned a great deal about the etiology and types of thyroid conditions, various treatment recommendations, and how to properly monitor a patient to prevent undue damage. Given the high rates of thyroid conditions in this country, this knowledge will be valuable in providing the best patient care.

How Testing Works

Skelly Skills offers two types of Continuing Education (CE), also known as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The two types of CDR-approved CE we offer are:

  1. Prior approved enduring (formerly known as self-study) CE courses using printed, online or eBook formats.
  2. Prior approved live, which are CE webinars.

For each of these types of CE, we offer Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs — also called CEUs, clock hours, or CPD hours).

Prior Approved Enduring (formerly Self-study) Courses

Our prior approved enduring CE courses all include a CE exam. This is important for some of you because you *may* be limited by the number of prior approved enduring (aka self-study) hours you can accumulate. For each course, you will need to complete the CE exam through our online testing system. It’s easy and you’ll get your CE Certificate of Completion as soon as you pass the course (or complete the Feedback Survey, in the case of our one-hour on-demand CE webinars).

Prior Approved Live (Live Webinars)

Our live CE webinars include a Feedback Survey. Within 24 hours of the live webinar, we will send an email with the Assessment ID and Key ID to complete the Feedback Survey through our testing system. Once you complete that, you’ll immediately be able to print and/or download your CE Certificate of Completion (it will also be emailed to you).

How to Purchase and Complete a Course

Step 1: Visit Skelly Skills and choose the topic and book or other course type you want to study. The number of CPEUs/CEUs/CPD hours are shown on each product page. Note to international customers: You can change the display currency using the icons on the right of the page.

Step 2: Pay online—you’ll get virtual courses immediately or else you’ll receive the book in the mail along with the CE exam booklet (we call this a ‘CE Evaluation’). Note: for books that we publish in-house, we include the CE exam and testing info in the back of the book, not as a separate booklet.)

Step 3: Study the course content. Once you have finished, complete the online exam at our testing site using the Assessment ID and Key ID (password) provided to you in the CE Evaluation, or on the course webpage if you are completing an on-demand webinar or online course.

That’s it! Once you have passed your exam, you’ll receive a PDF certificate of completion which includes the number of CPEUs/CEUs/CPD hours.

Key Facts About the Course Expiration Dates

  • Every one of our CE courses has an expiration date.
  • The expiration date is set by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) when they approve the course.
  • You must successfully complete your CE exam and/or feedback survey on or before the course expiration date.
  • Skelly Skills cannot extend the expiration date. You must request an extension in writing from CDR.
  • Skelly Skills does not offer refunds or credits for courses that have expired.
  • Please visit www.cdrnet.org for more information on expiration dates!
