Research shows individuals with diabetes are at risk for disordered and emotional eating. Learn how to identify it, address it in your counseling and help your clients move toward setting healthful, weight-neutral goals.

2. define the overeating SHAME eating cycle
3. recognize the connection between disordered eating patterns and blood glucose control
4. use appropriate counseling dialogue to identify disordered and emotional eating behaviors in diabetes clients
5. use appropriate goal-setting dialogue to establish behavioral goals for diabetes clients engaging in or at risk for disordered and emotional eating behaviors
